End your journey beautifully with a stop at the majestic Mount Stephen. This historical establishment built in 1880 subtly harmonizes contemporary lines with a neoclassical style. Once inside, it is impossible not to be dazzled by the history that permeates the place! You can also have a cocktail at Bar George, located in the heritage house that once belonged to Sir George Stephen, and enjoy a menu made of local products embellished by Irish accents.
The Mount Stephen still evokes the traces of the Scottish businessman, George Stephen. The exclusive club founded in 1926, from which it inherited the name, has been restored to its original splendor. Sir George Stephen, Scottish-born business mogul and philanthropist – and inspiration for the name of the bar – played a leading role in the Confederation of Canada by his vision and sense of leadership. He financed the construction of important hospitals in Canada, England and Scotland. Several years later, his luxurious Drummond mansion became Mount Stephen, a private club for businessmen intended to welcome many dignitaries from all over the world.
